Answering HIS Call
How to Serve GOD and Community with Long Term Missionary Work
Amanda Dyer

ABOUT THE BOOK
In Answering His Call, missionary Amanda Dyer takes you beyond the inspiring stories of others, offering practical advice that will empower and transform your approach to your calling. You’ll discover tools to conquer your fears of being overwhelmed, pushing you to exceed your own expectations. Step into a fresh, faith-filled journey where you will not only achieve your dream of living and serving abroad, but also deepen your intimacy with God, knowing He is with you every step of the way.
Amanda, with her husband Geoff and son Will, lived and worked with the Kazakh people in a town outside the old capital city of Almaty in Kazakhstan. They came to know other missionaries from around the world, who ran their own businesses or worked as teachers, doctors or within other professions. Amanda and Geoff’s life on the field did not always go to plan, and through these experiences, they discovered different ways of preparing for and approaching their calling.
Through Amanda’s book and accompanying workbook, you will explore your calling from God so you will know and understand when you are being called into this area of work. God has a plan for your life, and He wants to reveal that to you. Being spiritually prepared for mission work is vital.
As Amanda shares examples of God’s people being obedient to His call, it becomes clear that when you are obedient in all you do, God will lead you into what He has prepared for you – to be a blessing to the people He is sending you to. Allowing God to mould you for His purposes will allow you to do more than you could have imagined possible, through both discipline and yielding.
The landscape of missionary work is changing. No longer are people spending a lifetime on the field. Those going are often well educated in areas like theology, medicine, education or agriculture. They are making a career choice to live and work among people of another culture and share the gospel.
It’s extremely important to be well supported spiritually, physically and emotionally so you are not going onto the field alone. Amanda shares how to raise your profile within your community before you leave, gathering others to be part of your journey, which is both necessary and exciting. She also discusses raising financial support, choosing the right agency to work with, and your need for spiritual protection.
Many people are called to be missionaries, but not all go. Some people try many times to go but don’t get there. Avoid regrets by embracing the courage to walk boldly into God’s purpose for your life. You’re never alone – God is with you, guiding you every step of the way. He will make the path clear.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Amanda lives in the picturesque Adelaide Hills with her husband and a few sheep. In her youth she trained as a chef at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and lived with a French family as an au pair. She travelled and worked throughout Europe before opening her own seafood restaurant with her husband in Port Fairy in southwest Victoria, Australia. Following the birth of her two sons she moved to South Australia where she qualified as an investment adviser. Amanda worked with women to help them learn about finances. After her husband passed away in her early fifties, she returned to university to complete a Bachelor of Theology and met her second husband.
Together, with his youngest son, they embarked on an adventure living and working in Central Asia as missionaries and then in Lativa. She worked with trafficked and imprisoned women. Amanda is now mentoring other women to live and work as long-term missionaries. It is her passion to see people well prepared to work on the field to be part of the harvest.
